Apoorv Sharan is a singer-songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist whose music exists in the emotional space between melancholy and warmth, vulnerability and defiance. Based in Noida, India, Apoorv’s work resonates with a raw, unfiltered honesty that places him among a new wave of Indian independent artists who are unafraid to speak from the heart — even when it hurts. Apoorv’s musical journey began the way all great coming-of-age stories do: in his bedroom, guitar in hand, grappling with the chaos of growing up. Early on, he found solace in the songwriting of artists like John Mayer, Bon Iver, Arctic Monkeys, and Cigarettes After Sex — whose influence still lingers in the ambient textures and lyrical intimacy of his work. But unlike many of his peers, Apoorv didn’t just want to sing songs — he wanted to build them. Self-taught in music production, he immersed himself in DAWs, mic placements, stereo imaging, and mixing tools like Ozone, developing a uniquely hybrid skill set as both an artist and a producer. By 2022, his collaboration EP *Sawariya* with Shlovij marked his first official release — a gentle but significant step into the Indian indie scene. Apoorv’s genre is best described as Gloom Pop — a blend of mellow pop, indie rock, and lo-fi aesthetics, often wrapped in dreamy production and layered textures. Think reverb-soaked guitars, whispered vocals, ambient synths, and lyrical themes of nostalgia, youthful disillusionment, and emotional release. But what sets him apart is how he often pairs western alt-pop influences with subtle desi elements — be it Hindustani motifs, Hindi lyrics, or rhythmic ideas borrowed from Indian classical phrasing.
